Frequently asked questions
Is Chargebook free?
Yes. There are no ads and no subscription.
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works on your phone without signing in. Sign in with your email only if you want a backup and to use your log on another phone.
How does sign-in work?
Enter your email and we send you a one-time code. There is no password to remember. If the code doesn't arrive, check your spam folder and make sure the address is typed correctly.
Does it work offline?
Yes. You can log charges without internet. If you're signed in, they sync automatically the next time you're online.
I don't have a separate meter at home. How are home units worked out?
Choose Estimated for home units. The app uses your battery size, the change in battery % and a charging efficiency (you can adjust it in Settings) to estimate the energy drawn from the wall. If you do have a meter, choose Exact and enter the readings.
How is the cost of a public charge calculated?
Energy cost plus any session fee, GST and idle fee. If your receipt shows a different total, you can override it so your records match what you paid.
Why does cost per km or range look wrong?
They need odometer readings. If you skip the odometer on a charge, the app can't tell how far you drove since the last one. Add the reading to the charge and the numbers update.
My car isn't in the list.
Add it yourself with its usable battery capacity, or edit the capacity of a listed model. You can also email us and we'll add it.
How do I get my data out?
Go to Settings and export your charges as a CSV file, which opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings, then Delete account. Full steps, and how to ask by email, are on the account deletion page.
